Meet Ken, aka “Boomer”
I’m pretty sure my dad put a hammer in my hand before I could walk… and I’m sure grateful he did.
Although I grew up in California, Arizona has been my home for almost a decade. I cut my teeth on remodel projects with my dad on our family homes growing up. That progressed into being his laborer after school to do tile jobs for friends and neighbors. After high school, I started my own tiling company and fell in love with helping houses become homes. Over the years I’ve tackled my own home flips, remodel projects, commercial construction and more. I now have my own son who at 5yrs who you’ll likely spot handing me tools whenever he can.
If you want to know about my work style… well, my dad, who taught me everything, was a VERY detail oriented engineer. I’ll let you take a guess on his demands for perfection.
Meet Amanda, aka “Dukes”
Engineer, entrepreneur and wanna-be homesteader!
Although you won’t find me hanging drywall, you’ll definitely see me on job sites supporting our clients through all parts of the project process! My corporate background has been in the energy industry, utilizing my electrical engineering degree in projects like grid modernization and digital transformation (nerd talk for making the power system a little stronger.) Now I’m a full time consultant while supporting Ken in our construction company that has quickly become something we truly love and value.
Along the way I’ve found myself on the common journey of wanting to become more self-sufficient as a family, while removing a lot of the ‘garbage’ in our food and household products. This journey has led to B&D Bread Company… my passion project of sharing this love with our community. From weekly bread baking to sharing what’s working in the garden here in zone 9B, I just want to promote a healthy, happy and fun lifestyle!
